Super Bowl Preview: What else is there to say?

We talk about the Super Bowl for two straight weeks. The Rams and Bengals have been analyzed from every possible angle. Sean McVay's legacy. Joe Burrow's ascendancy. Zac Taylor's changing of the guard in coaching. Matthew Stafford finally getting a shot. The Ram's defensive superstars: Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, and Von Miller. Andrew Whitworth's career. The hype. The hope. The narrative has been analyzed more than the Bible. So, what can anyone really say? I will be brief because so much has been said.

This is a quarterback league. Simple as that. Whichever team wins changes the narrative of their quarterback's career. Joe Burrow could launch himself into conversations that most believed he wouldn't for at least a few more years. Matthew Stafford could give himself a chance to completely silence his critics. While I already believe that Stafford has proved more than enough to shut them up, he'll need this win to really transform what people think about him. I don't think it's fair to completely judge him on his current play because he took so much of a beating in Detroit. We should be looking at him through the lens of what could have been if some competent team had drafted him.

The pressure is on for Stafford and the Rams. Burrow, on the other hand, really has no pressure in this game. The Bengals are on the rise and seem to be set to contend for a while. Then again, they play in the same conference as the Chiefs, Bills, and Ravens. Some other teams seem to be rising in stock as well.

I want the Rams to win. I really do, but the Bengals feel special. Both teams have found ways to win games in ugly fashion. The reality is that the team that will win is the team that can put that mess away for the longest. Someone's luck has to run out. They can't both make comeback victories or overcome turnovers or a 9 sack game. One team has to fold.

Hopefully, we will see something special. Hopefully, this caps off the amazing 2022 NFL playoffs. The spectacle of the event seems to deserve two weeks of coverage, but I'm tired of talking about it. Let's play some football.
