The Lost City: Comedic Entertainment with Zany Wit

Last week, we went to see The Lost City and were wildly entertained. While the film takes some time to get going, it is definitely worth the watch if you enjoy the ridiculous comedy-action genre. The film really finds its center when Brad Pitt shows up as the typical action hero type. From there, it is a downhill laugh fest.

Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum have great chemistry and use the witty dialogue to churn out a number of laughs throughout the film. The stakes are low and the realism is nowhere to be found, but that's what I loved about this film. No need to inject some moralist lesson. Sometimes, comedy doesn't have to be commentary. Sometimes, we just want to laugh and stuff our faces with popcorn. Of course, it does have a sappy love story, but that is to be expected with the genre.

Daniel Radcliffe was probably my favorite part. He played the stereotypical rich villain perfectly. He was wild and unhinged and that equaled entertaining. He really leaned into the part of a character with seemingly no motivations and made it hilarious.

The cast was rounded out by Da'vine Joy Randolph, Oscar Nunez, and Patti Harrison. The ensemble comedy worked really well. I especially enjoyed the social media manager jokes.

While this film isn't going to blow anyone away, it is very entertaining. There are a few exchanges of dialogue in the film that had everyone belly-laughing. If you want to laugh, check this out.
